Melanie Khashadorian, Psychologist

Melanie Khashadorian

Director - Psychologist

Melanie has been working as a psychologist for over 18 years with experience in a variety of settings. It has been her vision to create a business where people can come to create the changes they want in life, be it in their life goals, relationally, emotionally or physically. It is with this idea she established My Appletree, to gather like minded people to be inspired and encouraged by one another.

As a psychologist, she particularly loves working with couples and families as she feels having healthy relationships is essential to our overall happiness. Melanie has experience working with a variety of issues that couples and families face such as communication breakdown and conflict, infidelity and issues with trust, achieving a satisfying sex life, separation and joining of families and even to explore how to re-ignite the ‘spark’ in a romantic relationship.

She is also an educator in the field, teaching student counsellors and psychologists in the areas of conflict management, developmental psychology and family and relationship counselling.

One of her key strengths is her ability to foster a non-judgmental environment to explore these challenges for couples and individuals, allowing for the safety and trust necessary for a productive counselling dynamic.

She draws on a variety of theories to find an approach that works with each individual. These approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focussed Therapy, Imago Therapy and Gottman’s approach to relationships. Melanie is a Registered psychologist with AHPRA. She holds a Masters of Science in Medicine (HIV, STIs and Sexual Health) as well as a Masters in Applied Psychology (Coaching Psychology); Graduate Diploma in Science (Psychology) and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Sociology) all from Sydney University. From Macquarie University she has a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology.
